What we know: 

1. PBMs are a choice for any health care provider – They are hired because they are proven to save money.  

2. Drug manufacturers set drug prices.  PBMs do not. 

3. PBMs do not work for drug manufacturers or pharmacists.

4. PBMs work for an employer/labor union or state plan.  They are the ultimate decision maker.

5. Until other drugs are approved for the same disease or condition, manufacturers have little incentive to reduce their prices.

6. 90% of all drug sold are generic.  the high cost are from the 10% of brand and specialty drugs.
